About this album
This piece was composed as part of Lionel Kasparian’s collaboration with the choreographer Christophe Haleb on the project ‘Fama’, in the framework of Marseille-Provence 2013, European Capital of Culture.
‘Persistence’ was composed for a choreographic performance during the Uzès Dance Festival. The piece takes us musically to the meeting of two people – Nina and René – met during artistic workshops at the Uzes hospital.
I was immediately attracted by these two characters, their voices, their personalities… I wanted to set Nina’s poetic and imaginary form to music and parallel it with Rene’s intimate story.
This work echoes a way of thinking that defines memory as an active capacity to bring things to life in the present, and a resurrection force.
Initialy, ‘Persistance’ is a multiphonic sound piece, which has been rewritten for a musical listening and in stereo.
